ProCOR
ProCOR
is an ongoing, moderated e-mail discussion group and Web-based
information site aimed at addressing the silent epidemic of
cardiovascular disease in the developing world. The goal
of ProCOR is to create a dynamic international forum where health
care providers, researchers, public health workers, and others
may share timely information and participate in raising the
awareness about this emerging public health challenge. ProCOR
is guided by a distinguished Advisory Committee comprising of
colleagues from internationally recognised institutions around
the world. Moderators screen incoming messages and post current
research, as well as clinical and public health information,
ensuring the high scientific quality of the discussions.
By
joining, you will become part of a network of health professionals
dedicated to the prevention of cardiovascular disease, including,
for example, Dr Bernard Lown, a distinguised Harvard cardiologist
and co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.
ProCOR
was officially launched in July of 1997 as a collaborative effort
between SATELLIFE and the Lown Cardiovascular Center. SATELLIFE
is a Boston-based, non-profit organisation dedicated to creating
access to health information resources and facilitating electronic
communications for health professionals in the developing world.
SATELLIFE provides all technical and administrative support
for ProCOR. The Lown Cardiovascular Center, based in Brookline,
MA, USA, is affiliated with Harvard Medical and Public Health
Schools. The Center's activities encompass cardiology care,
research, and fellowship training.
ProCOR
is completely FREE. We invite and welcome all interested colleagues
to participate in this vital international network.
